The Bruins have been on a tear after losing their first game of the season, they have now gone on to win six straight putting them at 6-1 on the season.

Last week was a solid cross-town matchup for Rock Bridge at Battle. Despite the 48-35 win, head coach Matt Perkins says the performance did not live up to expectations.

"Take the win and enjoy it I guess but certainly not as well as we wanted to perform on both sides of the ball," Perkins said. "We got to give credit to our team for responding when things went poorly and getting the job done when we needed to."

Looking ahead to this Friday with Hickman, Perkins called the Kewpies a "dangerous" team and said he's expecting "a little extra juice" to be added to the matchup.

"We've got to be sharp and that starts with practices and having a good mindset every single day and so far our kids are right there where we need them to be," Perkins said.

On the other side of this game, Hickman has been struggling to get the job done this season standing at 1-6 on the year including last week's 52-20 loss at Grain Valley.

"The past few weeks we've come out and turned the ball over, we've given our opponents short field positions and we haven't been fundamental when we have had the opportunity on defense to make some stops. Those things have to change if we wants things in terms of wins and losses to change," said Hickman head coach Cedric Alvis.

With just one win this season, Alvis also said the spirits in the locker room have been on a rollercoaster.

"It's hard no matter who you are to continue to find positives when it seems like constant negatives are berating you," Alvis said.

Hickman will meet Rock Bridge at Rock Bridge High School Friday at 7 p.m.
