Newcomers shine in Mizzou football’s season opening win against Louisiana Tech
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Mizzou football team opened up the season 1-0, following a 52-24 win over Louisiana Tech on Thursday night at Faurot Field.
The MU defense started much different than it did just one season ago, holding the Bulldogs to just 11 rushing yards.
"Wow what a difference a year makes," head coach Eli Drinkwitz said after the game. "To hold a team like that was pretty impressive."

One newcomer, specifically, stood out in the win. Florida-transfer, linebacker, Ty'Ron Hooper finished the night with six tackles and one sack.
"It felt good, first game with the Tigers and all," he said. "I feel like I got some thing I need to clean up."

Offensively, newcomers Luther Burden, Nathaniel Peat, and Cody Schrader all had stand out performances as well. Burden finished the night with two touchdowns, while both Peat and Schrader each tallied one.
Burden made big contributions to the offense, alongside fellow St. Louis native Dominic Lovett.
"That was one of my main reasons for coming to Mizzou, so a lot St. Louis guys will come up here with me and turn the program around," Burden said.

Quarterback Brady Cook said overall he was happy to get the win, but there are some things he will need to clean up before the next game. The sophomore went 17-26 for 196 yards and one rushing touchdown.
