Cardinals dominate the Rockies for the series sweep

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMIZ)

The St. Louis bats caught fire in the final game of the series against Colorado. The Cardinals routed the Rockies 13-0 to achieve the series sweep.

With the win, the Cards have now won nine of the club's last 12 games, with four of those victories coming against Colorado.

Albert Pujols continued his hot stretch on Thursday. The 42-year-old knocked out his 16th career grand slam to put the Red Birds on top by 10, but also to put his home run total at 690. Pujols is now just ten homers away from joining the likes of Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron, and Barry Bonds in the 700 club.

Lars Nootbar was the only other Cardinal to homer in win, but five others drove in runs, as Colorado dug deep into the bullpen.

Meanwhile, St. Louis' pitching was on point. Adam Wainwright went for seven innings with seven strikeouts and no runs allowed on three hits.

Up next - the Cardinals will hit he road to meet the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday at 8:40 p.m.
