TORONTO, Ca. (KMIZ)

Albert Pujols was the star of the show in the Cardinals 6-1 victory over the Blue Jays Wednesday night.

He had a big day at the plate going three for four with three RBI's including his 686th career home run.

Pujols stepped up at the right time as St. Louis was without other all-stars Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado in the matchup due to a lack of COVID-19 vaccination.

Dylan Carlson, Lars Nootbar and Nolan Gorman each drove in a run apiece.

Adam Wainwright led things on the mound pitching seven innings allowing just five hits and one earned run and recording eight strikeouts on the night.

Up next - The road trip continues for the Red Birds as they travel to Washington to take on the Nationals in a three-game series starting Friday at 6 p.m.
