KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Kansas City Royals claimed the divisional series win against the Guardians Sunday after a 5-1 win.

Despite losing big Saturday 13-1, KC came out firing Sunday getting on the board first in the second inning with an RBI single from Kyle Isbel.

Runs were also batting in from Andrew Benintendi, Nicky Lopez and two from MJ Melendez.

Zack Greinke got the win on the hill allowing just three hits in five innings and recording five strikeouts.

Unfortunately for the Royals, during Sunday's game Whit Merrifield was removed with right toe discomfort and will be further evaluated.

Up next - The home stand continues at the K as another divisional series begins Monday at 1:10 p.m. against the Detroit Tigers.
