Royals avoid home sweep against Rangers

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Royals managed to squeeze past the Rangers 2-1 Wednesday to avoid the sweep at Kauffman Stadium.

Kansas City was outscored in the first two games 18-7, but struck first on Wednesday with MJ Melendez driving in a run in the first inning.

Texas got on the board in the fifth, but Kyle Isbel provided the different in the bottom of the frame with another homer, now having one in back-to-back games.

Zack Greinke got the win on the mound allowing just four hits and one earned run in six innings. He also recorded three strikeouts.

Up next - The Royals will hit the road and travel to Detroit to play a three-game series with the Tigers starting Friday at 6 p.m.
