ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMIZ)

The St. Louis Cardinals could not complete the sweep over the Chicago Cubs, as the team fell 6-5 in the final game of the series on Sunday afternoon. Despite the loss, the Cardinals still won the series overall, 2-1.

The Cards led by five runs after the third inning, but in the fourth Wilson Contreras hit a single to tie up the game at five runs apiece. In the 10th and final inning, Contreras was the here, once again, for Chicago. He hit another single to send in the game-winning run.

Jack Flaherty started the game for St. Louis, but the team pulled him after two innings due to stiffness in his right shoulder. He finished with two strikeouts and one hit allowed over those two innings.

Nick Wittgren allowed the majority of the damage on the hill. The Cubs sent in four runners on four hits in Wittgren's one inning over work.

Up next - St. Louis will host the Miami Marlins at Busch Stadium on Monday at 6:45 p.m.
