The Tampa Bay Rays completed the series sweep over St. Louis on Thursday, courtesy of a 2-1 win in what turned out to be a pitching battle. It is the first time the Cardinals have been swept in the 2022 season.

Miles Mikolas was charged with the loss, but had a standout day on the hill for the club. He pitched for eight innings and allowed just two runs with nine strikeouts.

The St. Louis offense never got heated up against Rays pitcher Shane McClanahan. He went for eight innings with nine strikeouts and no runs allowed. It was an all-around strong day on the bump for Tampa Bay, as Jason Adam got the save in one inning with one strikeout.

With the loss, St. Louis fell to 32-26 overall in 2022.

Up next - the Cardinals will return home to host the Cincinnati Reds on Friday at 7:15 p.m.
