Cardinals take series over Cubs in extra innings win

CHICAGO, Ill. (KMIZ)

The St. Louis Cardinals came out on top in a five-game series with the Cubs, courtesy of a 5-3 win in eleven innings on Sunday.

The red birds trailed by one run heading into the 9th inning, however, Lars Nootbar sent Harrison Bader home to tie up the game.

Brendan Donovan put St. Louis on top in the 11th inning with a double to score Bader.

Cardinals pitcher Genesis Cabrera pitched lights out in relief at Wrigley Field. He finished his four innings with five strikeouts and two hits allowed.

Up next - St. Louis will meet Tampa Bay on Tuesday at 6:10 p.m.
