Team Missouri gets big send-off ahead of the 2022 USA Games

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Special Olympics Missouri hosted a send-off party for the athletes of Jefferson City Team Missouri before they make the trip to Orlando for the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games.

There were send-off parties for athletes in St. Louis and Kansas City on Friday night, as well.

Missouri is sending 127 athletes to Florida for the games this year. Coaches, sports managers, and other staff will also be making the trip with them.

The athletes will compete in nine summer sports alongside teams from across the country, from every single state.

The 2022 USA Games will start on Sunday, June 5 and run through Sunday, June 12.

You can watch the opening ceremonies for the games on KMIZ on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
