Southern Boone baseball wins first-ever state championship

OZARK, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Southern Boone baseball team captured a state championship for the first time in program history with a 8-3 win over Logan-Rogersville on Thursday.

SOBOCO finishes the season with a 34 wins on the year.

The Eagles trailed the Wildcats 2-0, however, mounted a comeback for the second-straight game.

Carter Karotka got his first hit of the final four to put Southern Boone on the board and just an inning later AJ Evans came in on a wild pitch to tie up the game. The teams stayed knotted up at two until the sixth inning when the Eagles drove in four runs to break the game open.

Head coach Brian Ash is now the first head coach in Missouri history to lead three different schools to a state championship.
