Mizzou softball beats Missouri State, advances to Regional Final

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

It took two games on Saturday, but the Mizzou softball team will meet Arizona in the NCAA Regional Final on Sunday afternoon.

The Tigers fell to the Arizona Wildcats in the first game of the day, 2-0, however a standout performance from sophomore pitcher Laurin Krings propelled MU to a win over Missouri State in game five of the regional.

Krings finished with 11 strikeouts and three hits allowed over in a complete game shutout for Mizzou. The pitcher also had a big outing against the Bears on Friday in the opening game of the regional, as she finished that one with 12 strikeouts in a shutout.

The scoring got started with an RBI single from Brooke Wilmes to bring home Jenna Laird in the first inning. One inning later, Jefferson City native Kara Daly hammered a solo home run to put MU up 2-0 over the Bears.

Up next - Mizzou take on Arizona, once again, at 3:00 p.m. in the NCAA Regional Final. The Tigers will have to beat the Wildcats twice in order to advance to a Super Regional.
