DENVER, Colo. (KMIZ)

The Kansas City Royals avoided what could have been the worst loss of the season with a 8-7 win over the Colorado Rockies on Sunday.

Kansas City had a 6-0 lead over the Rockies heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, however, Colorado rang off seven runs. With a one-run deficit in the ninth inning, Salvador Perez hit an RBI single to propel KC to the win.

Scott Barlow got three outs in the ninth inning to put up his fourth save of the season.

Kansas City pitcher Daniel Lynch had a solid outing for the club. He pitched about five shutout innings and was pulled from the game while the Royals had a big lead.
