Mizzou softball captures historic win over Alabama in the SEC Tournament

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou softball team broke Alabama softball's 21-game win streak in conference tournament opening games courtesy of a 3-0 win on Thursday.

It is the first time the defending conference champs have lost its opening game since 1999.

Laurin Krings tossed a complete game shutout in the circle for MU with three strikeouts and just five hits allowed.

Both Kendyll Bailey and Kara Daly sent runners across home plate in the win.

Up next - Mizzou will meet Tennessee in the semifinals on Friday, May 13 at 2:00 p.m.
