No. 23 Mizzou softball drops series to No. 8 Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (KMIZ)

No. 8 Alabama took the regular-season finale over No. 23 Mizzou, 3-1, on Sunday. The loss resulted in a series loss for MU in Tuscaloosa, 2-1.

Sophomore Jenna Laird scored the Tigers' lone run, courtesy of an error from the Crimson Tide in the fourth inning, but the MU bats were cold. Just Laird, Alex Honnold, and Emma Raabe recorded hits, as the Tigers had just four on the day.

The Crimson Tide's only scoring play came in the bottom of the fourth, courtesy of a three run homer. However, it was a controversial play, as the umpires had to review it. The call stood as a home run on the field, but outfielder Casidy Chaumont seemed to keep the ball in play at the wall.

Jordan Weber was charged with the loss in the circle. She pitched for about three innings with two strikeouts and three runs allowed.

Up next - the SEC Tournament will start in Gainesville, Florida on Tuesday. Mizzou is still waiting to find out which team it will face.
