No. 23 Mizzou softball tops No. 8 Alabama in first game of series

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (KMIZ)

The No. 23 Mizzou softball team knocked of No. 8 Alabama in an extra innings thriller on Friday night. With the win, the Tigers lead the series 1-0.

MU took a first inning lead, courtesy of a two-run home run from Kim Wert, however, the Crimson Tide clawed back. Alabama's Bailey Dowling tied up the game in the fourth inning with a solo home run.

Standout Crimson Tide pitcher Montana Fouts delivered a bases loaded walk in the eighth inning which propelled Mizzou to a 3-2 win.

Jordan Weber pitched a complete game in the circle with seven strikeouts and two earned runs allowed.

Up next - Mizzou will continue the series against Alabama on Saturday. First pitch is at 12:30 p.m.
