Columbia College baseball and softball return to the diamond on Tuesday

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Both Columbia College baseball and softball returned to action in home games on Tuesday.

First up, the Cougars softball team had a double-header at Antimi Sports Complex against William Woods.

In game one, Williams Woods scored first off of an RBI single from Alexis Hassler, but Columbia College dominated the batters box from there.

Emily King, Karolina Arbova, Athena Wheeler and Abigail Pringer all drove runs in for the Cougars as they take a 4-1 win in game one. Lexi Dickerson allows just four hits and recorded six strikeouts.

In game two, Columbia College scored one run each in the first three innings and went on to win it 3-0. RBI's came from King, Arbova and Jodi Polly.

Ella Schouten pitched game two for the Cougars giving up zero runs and finishing with six strikeouts.

Columbia College baseball also getting some action Tuesday night hosting No. 2 Central Methodist at Atkins Park.

Cougars got off to a not so great start being down 5-0 in the 4th inning, but game the Eagles a run for their money.

Kellen Williamson, Devyn Lopez and Riley Poulton all had one RBI on the day and Jarrett Newell had two.

Six different pitchers were on the mound for the Cougars Wednesday recording nine strikeouts total and allowing eight hits.

Cougars fall at home 10-7 and are now 32-7 on the season.
