Mizzou gymnastics earns spot in Regional Final

RALEIGH, N.C. (KMIZ)

The No. 11 Mizzou gymnastics team punched its ticket to the Regional Final with a record-breaking performance on Thursday afternoon.

The Tigers set a new regional program-high on the beam, finishing with a 49.450. Helen Hu and Sienna Schreiber both set back-to-back regional program highs on the beam. Hu scored a 9.975 and Schreiber anchored with a 9.975.

Head coach Shannon Welker's team put up the second-highest regional score in program history with 197.150 points, which put MU in first place through day one. The Iowa Hawkeyes finished just behind Mizzou in the standings, so there will be a lot of black and gold in the finals.

MU will face Iowa, No. 3 Michigan, and No. 14 UCLA in the Regional Final on Saturday at 4 p.m. The top two finishers will advance to the national championship.
