Mizzou women’s basketball talks NCAA Tournament and WNIT
COLUMBIA, Mo, (KMIZ)
The Mizzou women's basketball team will look to make a run in the WNIT for the second-straight year, as the Tigers will host Drake at Mizzou Arena on Thursday.
You can watch the press conference with head coach Robin Pingeton in the video player below.
Pingeton's group missed out on an NCAA Tournament bid for the third-straight season. MU had its fair share of big wins with an upset over No. 1 South Carolina and a 7-9 record in the SEC.
"You have a watch party and you know you're on the bubble and you feel like, looking at some of those resumes, you're right there in the mix," she said. "All of our hopes were pretty high. We had a really good week of practice leading up Sunday. It was - I think we were all just stunned. There wasn't a lot of conversation afterwards."
Pingeton added that the WNIT does provide an opportunity for Mizzou to make a statement.
"I think three of the last four teams to win the WNIT are now first and second round hosts and so I do think there's a huge opportunity in front of us," she said. "None of its easy. These teams, you know, there's a handful of these teams that were right there to make the NCAA's too."
Mizzou will tip off against Drake at 7 p.m. on Thursday night.
