Mizzou football wraps up first two days of spring camp
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Mizzou football team is two days into head coach Eli Drinkwitz's second full spring camp in Columbia. As usual, the team said the goal this team of year is individual development.
You can watch the full press conferences with Mizzou offensive lineman Connor Wood and wide receiver Barrett Banister in the video players below.
There are a few big storylines heading into the 2022 season, including who will start behind center for the Tigers. Drinkwitz said the quarterback position is wide open, but it will not be decided in the spring.
"We're competing every, single day as we always compete, but after the spring game there's not going to be an announcement on who the quarterback is," Coach Drink said.
Brady Cook and sophomore Tyler Macon are both in contention for the starting spot, along with incoming freshman Sam Horn. Horn is finishing out his high school career in Georgia and will enroll at Mizzou in the summer, so there will be no spring camp for him.
Drinkwitz also announced that wide receiver Luther Burden earned his number on Friday. The freshman will wear No. 3, just as he did in high school.
"That doesn't need to fuel any more hype, plenty of hype out there," Drinkwitz said. "Just calm down, it's still February."
