Mizzou goes 3-2 through opening weekend

LEESBURG, Florida (KMIZ)

The Mizzou softball team came out on other side of opening weekend with a 3-2 record, including a top-25 win over No. 24 Liberty on Sunday.

Sophomore Jenna Laird capped off a big weekend with two RBI on Sunday afternoon. She recorded the Tigers' first home run of the season against Wisconsin on Saturday.

The Tigers started the weekend series with a 2-1 extra innings win over Penn State on Friday morning. However, head coach Larissa Anderson's group dropped the second game of the day 6-2 against UConn.

Up next - Mizzou will had to Fort Meyers, Florida to to meet Florida Gulf Coast on Feb. 16.
