Mizzou football adds to historic recruiting class on National Signing Day

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou football team put the finishing touches on its historic 2022 recruiting class on National Signing Day.

With those final additions, MU's class ranks No. 15 in the nation, which is the highest a class has been ranked in program history. For reference, 2021 was also a landmark class for Coach Drinkwitz and the university, but he beat that record again.

"For us to sign, you know, the best class in school history I think was just living by our core values," Drinkwitz said. "The challenge that I had for our staff yesterday was now we've got to recruit better than that this year."

Mizzou signed five more players on Wednesday afternoon, including one surprise addition in offensive lineman Curtis Peagler from Demopolis, Alabama. The Tigers also made it official with:

• Linebacker Ty'ron Hooper - Florida transfer
• Defensive lineman Ian Mathews - Auburn transfer
• Tight end Tyler Stephens - Buffalo transfer
• Linebacker Carmycah Class - Ouachita Parish High School

In total, the Tigers locked down 28 signees and transfers, including six of ESPN's Top 300 recruits. Drinkwitz stuck by his goal of recruiting the state of Missouri, as he brought ton 10 in-state players, including the top wide receiver in the nation, Luther Burden.
