Kansas City falls to Cincinnati in final seconds
CINCINNATI, Ohio. (KMIZ)
The Kansas City Chiefs fell to 11-5 following a 34-31 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday afternoon. The loss took KC out of the AFC's top seed.
The Chiefs had gotten out to a 21-7 lead in the first half, however, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow helped put his team in comeback mode. The Bengals put up two more than 75-yard touchdown drives to take the 31-28 lead in the fourth quarter.
Kansas City kicker Harrison Butker nailed a 34-yard field goal to tie up with six minutes left, but the Chiefs' defense could not stop Burrow and company. Evan McPherson made a 20-yard field goal with two seconds left to win the game.
Patrick Mahomes finished went 26-35 with 259 yards and two touchdowns, while the second-year Cincinnati quarterback threw for 446 yards and four touchdowns.
Up next - Kansas City will travel to Denver to meet the Broncos on Jan. 9.
