Dodgers beat out Cardinals, advance to NLDS

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (KMIZ)

The Los Angeles Dodgers will advance to the National League Division Series after a 3-1 victory over the Cardinals on Wednesday night.

It truly was a win-or-go-home game that had it all. The Cardinal legend Adam Wainwright went head-to-head with the Mizzou alum and St. Louis-native Max Scherzer, while fellow St. Louis-great, Albert Pujols, sat on the bench.

The red bird bats started up early, as Tommy Edman managed to get on base in his first at-bat of the game. He would later be driven in due to a wild pitch from Scherzer.

Los Angeles made things interesting with a fourth-inning home run from Justin Turner to tie up the ball game at one.

Chris Taylor hit a two-run home run to send the Dodgers to the next round of the playoffs.

On Aug. 5, the Cardinals were about eight games out of even playing in the Wild Card game, however, a 17-game win streak helped them clinch the second NL spot. Essentially, St. Louis defied pretty much every statistic to make the playoffs.
