Kansas City offense surges in comeback win over Cleveland
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Kansas City Chiefs came back from a 12-point deficit to steal the week one win from the Cleveland Browns on Sunday afternoon, 33-29.
Throughout much of the first half, KC's offense remained stagnant. However, Patrick Mahomes managed to overcome the largest deficit in a regular-season game of his career. The quarterback was 27-for-36 with 337 yards and three touchdowns.
At the half, Kansas City trailed Cleveland by 12 points, 22-10. However, the offense ignited after the break. Mahomes threw three touchdowns to get the comeback.
Two of those touchdowns found the hands of standout tight end Travis Kelce. In fact, the final score that set the Chiefs over was a bullet to the tight end at the goal line, which made it 33-29 Kansas City. Kelce finished the outing with 76 yards on six receptions and two touchdowns.
Tyreek Hill also put up a standout performance for Kansas City. He had 11 receptions for 197 yards and a touchdown. Hill went 75 yards to the house on a pass from Mahomes to give the Chiefs their first lead of the game in the fourth quarter.
Former Mizzou football linebacker Nick Bolton played his first regular season snaps in the NFL. He finished with seven total tackles, with one being a tackle for loss.
