Mizzou volleyball hosts annual preseason scrimmage

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou fans got their first look at the 2021 Mizzou volleyball team in the group's annual Black and Gold scrimmage on Friday night.

Following the 2020 season, the Tigers lost quite a bit of experience, including standout Kylie Deberg, Tyanna Omazic, and Dariana Hollingsworth-Santana. However, MU did return one key piece: junior Anna Dixon. The outside hitter finished the inter-squad scrimmage with a team-high of 14 kills along with five blocks and eight digs.

Multiple freshmen also took center stage. Middle blocker Kayla Burbage had 11 kills on .316 hitting in her Tiger debut. Fellow freshman Addison Lyon dished out 37 assists, along with serving her squad to a 9-0 run in the second set of the night.

MU will open up the regular season on August 27 when the team hosts the Mizzou Invitational. The Tigers will face both St. Louis and UMKC.
