High school teams prepare for week one; participate in jamborees
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The high school football season will kick off on August 27 in Missouri, however, teams got to go through one more dress rehearsal.
High schools across Mid-Missouri hosted their annual jamborees with multiple other schools in attendance. The Hickman Kewpies hosted both the Rock Bridge and Battle football programs on Friday night.
"Oh it's awesome," Kewpies head coach Cedric Alvis said. "When you look up and see the crowd and you see the environment, it's nothing like we had last year, so getting back to normal with that is amazing."
Battle, Rock Bridge, and Hickman all had the opportunity to scrimmage each other during the jamboree, which is the first opposing team each squad has seen in months. New Spartan head coach Jonah Dubinski said there were both positives and negatives for his team.
"Defense was awesome tonight," he said. "They played really physical, really fast and physical. We've got to be a little bit more decisive. We got to use our football intelligence a little bit more on offense."
