Hallsville sets sights on another district championship

HALLSVILLE, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Hallsville football team has already captured back-to-back district titles, but now the Indians want to take it a step further.

Head coach Justin Conyers said that he feels, if his group continues to click, that this could be the roster that brings Hallsville back to a district title game and beyond.

"We would love to be able to host a quarterfinal game this year and get over that hump. We've been there the last two years and we've played some really tough opponents in those two years," he said. "Get a chance to get us into that state final four. Get in the semifinals and you're one game away from a state title. That's really exciting and I feel great about this group and where we're at right now"

Conyers noted that his team finally has a solid set of returning starters. Last season, Hallsville was relatively young on both sides of the ball.

"All of those guys that were 15 and 16 year-olds last year that were playing for us, are now 16 and 17," Conyers said. "They've all put on 10 to 15 pounds in the offseason, so I think that's going to be huge for our program."

The Indians will open up the 2021 season on August 27 on the road against Palmyra.
