Karissa Schweizer is headed to Tokyo; makes Olympic team

EUGENE, Ore. (KMIZ)

The most decorated athlete in Mizzou history booked her ticket to Tokyo on Monday night. Karissa Schweizer finished in second place in the women's 5,000 meter race, which sent her the Olympics.

It is the first time the runner has ever qualified for an Olympic team.

Schweizer won quite a bit in a Mizzou uniform, as well. She ended her collegiate career as a six-time NCAA Champion, including winning back-to-back national championships in the indoor and outdoor 5,000m. To this day, she still holds the collegiate record in the 10,000m. Within MU's program, she holds six individual records.
