Battle basketball coach announces retirement

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Battle boys basketball coach Brian Meny is calling it a career. He announced his decision on social media on Thursday night.

Meny coached high school basketball for 26 years, including the last five seasons at Battle.

"Proud of what we have accomplished but sad," Meny said on Twitter. "Sad to leave behind such a great place, great friends and a group of young student athletes at Battle."

He added, "The future is so bright for the returning Battle basketball players. Thank you to the many, many people that have helped me along the way."

Meny led the Spartans to three district championships. He had a career record of 515-285. In total - he won 14 district titles as a head coach.

Battle is now in need of its third ever head boys basketball coach.
