Capital City track and field makes school history at state championship
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Class 5 State Championship for track and field managed to get underway, despite some inclement weather in Jefferson City, on Thursday afternoon, with multiple local schools taking home hardware.
Capital City's Kiara Strayhorn made history. She became the school's first-ever state champion, after finishing in first in the girls' 100 meter hurdles. Strayhorn also broke a Class 5 state meet record in the girls' high jump, where she finished in 2nd place.
However, there was more history on Thursday, as the Rock Bridge boys captured the overall state championship for the first time in program history.
