Mizzou loses heartbreaker, despite late inning dramatics

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou softball team fell short of its first SEC Championship game in program history, in a 7-6 semifinal loss to top-seeded Florida on Friday.

The Tigers led by one run early on, courtesy of an RBI ground out from Casidy Chaumont.

However, the Florida bats took over. It all started when Kendyl Lindaman hit a two-run bomb off of sophomore pitcher Megan Schumacher, which made it a two-run Gator advantage.

The Tigers made it interesting in the 7th inning, as Florida led 5-2. Emma Raabe hit a bomb out of the park to take the 6-5 advantage over Florida.

However, Florida. took it on a throwing error from the Tigers, 7-6.

Up next - the team will wait to hear its fate in the NCAA Tournament during the selection show on May 16.
