Mizzou Athletics increases venue capacities

COLUMBIA, Mo (KMIZ)

Mizzou Athletics announced that, beginning on May 18, it will be increasing venue capacities to 50 percent for the remainder of the spring season.

MU stadiums have been operating at about 20 percent capacity since the school year began.

“Our fans have been tremendous in supporting all of our teams this year, and we are excited to get to 50 percent for the remainder of the year as we build toward a return to 100 percent capacities within all of our venues next season," Athletic Director Jim Sterk said in a press release on Friday.

The athletic department added that fans are still encouraged to wear masks when they aren't eating or drinking.

The Mizzou baseball team will host Kansas at Taylor Stadium on May 18 and will be the first event with the new capacity limit.
