Columbia College captures AMC Championship

COLUMBIA, Mo (KMIZ)

The Columbia College softball team claimed its fourth-straight AMC Championship, in an 8-0 win over Central Baptist College on Saturday afternoon.

The Cougars had a big day at the plate, with eight runs on ten hits in the outing.

Columbia College drove in three runs in the 5th inning to bring run rule into effect. In the bottom half of the inning, senior pitcher Lexi Dickerson sealed the deal with a strikeout to end the game. She finished the day with a complete shutout and five strikeouts.

Fellow senior Allison Keen had a productive day for the Cougars, as well. She went three-for-three at the plate, driving in three runs.

The team has now won 30-straight games, which is now two games ahead of the previous, 15 year old record.

Up next - Columbia College earned an automatic bid into the NAIA Opening Round, which begins on May 17.
