Central Methodist sweeps Evangel on senior day

FAYETTE, Mo (KMIZ)

The Central Methodist University softball team earned the series sweep over Evangel on Saturday afternoon, following big performances from the Eagle bats.

In the first game of the day, CMU overpowered Evangel at the plate, in a 10-0 win. Senior Kelli Gorman recorded two home runs in the outing, one of which was a grand slam.

The shutout came at the hands of pitcher Keighlan Cronin, who finished with nine strikeouts through all five innings. The junior broke the program record for most strikeouts in a single season.

The second game of the day was pushed to extra innings, however, CMU came out on top with a 6-5 win. Senior Hannah Criswell hit an infield single, which brought in the game-winning run.

Up next - Central Methodist finishes out its final home stand with a double-header against Missouri Valley on Sunday, starting at 1:00 P.M.
