Lady Greyhounds prepare for NJCAA Tournament run

LUBBOCK, Texas (KMIZ)

The Moberly Area Community College women's hoops team will face Eastern Arizona in the first round of the NJCAA Tournament on Tuesday afternoon.

"I was just so excited for our girls, especially, you know, these young women qualified last year and won the region and won the district and didn't get to go due to COVID," head coach Hana Haden said.

Haden added that, for her, the past year has been about remaining "present," and enjoying the moment, especially now that the team is in Lubbock, Texas for the tournament.

She is also excited to face a team outside of their own region.

"We both have some good size," Haden said. "We've been one of the biggest teams in our region, but they're probably the biggest team in their region. They have even more size than we do."

Moberly lost the Region 16 Championship, by two points, this time around, but Haden said there are lessons to be drawn from that loss.

"We talked about all week that when two really good teams are playing, the little things are the big things," she said. "We went back and watched that film and just saw some blank possessions that we should have gotten a better shot or didn't run something correctly."

Tip off for round one is at 11 A.M. on Tuesday morning.
