Bryan Blitz: “I’ll be a super fan, but it was time”

COLUMBIA, Mo (KMIZ)

Mizzou soccer's only head coach, Bryan Blitz, said he will remain a super fan of all Mizzou Athletics, but added it was time to step away from head coaching.

Blitz told his team on Sunday afternoon, before having a meeting with athletic director Jim Sterk. He is stepping away after 26 years with the program.

The Missouri Sports Hall of Famer will remain with the program until MU finds a replacement. He added that he felt he left the program in a good spot, finishing fifth in the SEC in 2021.

Blitz said he will be spending time with his family and figuring out what his new calling is after 30 years of coaching.
