Mizzou captures series win in a double-header sweep

COLUMBIA, Mo (KMIZ)

The Mizzou softball team improved to 31-10 with a double-header sweep over Mississippi State on Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers played two Saturday games, due to inclement weather on Friday night. In the first game of the day, everything went Mizzou's way.

Freshman Jenna Laird put up three of the team's five points, with back-to-back home runs. She now has five on the season. Mississippi State went down, 5-2.

The second game of the day was no different, as both Laird and Kim Wert brought runners across home plate. Mizzou took the game and the series win, 4-3.

Mizzou and Mississippi State will play in one more game, as the Tigers look for the series sweep, on Sunday at the Mizzou Softball Complex.
