No. 19 Mizzou drops weekend series against No. 15 LSU

The No. 15 LSU softball team claimed the series win over No. 19 Mizzou on Sunday, after back-to-back wins.

MU kept within striking distance in the first game, only falling 4-2. However, things got out of hand in the second game of the afternoon, as the Tigers fell 12-5.

Ali Kilponen gave Mizzou trouble in the circle today. She played all seven innings in the first game, with eight strikeouts and just two runs. She also came into the second game as a relief pitcher, finishing with seven strikeouts and no runs over about six innings.

"If we don't give forth great effort, we're not going to have great results," Mizzou head coach Larissa Anderson said after the loss.

Mizzou falls to 29-9 on the season with the losses.

Up next - Mizzou will host rival Kansas on Tuesday, April 13.

Also on Sunday - the Mizzou baseball team lost to No. 11 South Carolina 13-4. The Tigers are now 11-19 overall and 4-8 in the SEC. Up next - MU will host Missouri State on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
