KANSAS CITY, Mo (KMIZ)

The Cardinals and Royals both won their respective Opening Day games on Thursday afternoon.

St. Louis took down the Cincinnati Reds, 11-6, in a standout performance at the plate. Five Cardinals brought runners across home plate.

However, Dylan Carlson cranked out a home run in his very first Opening Day as a major leaguer.

St. Louis and Cincinnati will meet again on Saturday, April 3 at 3:10 P.M. at Great American Ball Park.

Back in Missouri, Kansas City took a tightly contested game against the Texas Rangers, 14-10.

The Rangers led 5-0 after the first inning, however, the Royals embarked on a comeback led by Whit Merrifield, who went 3-for-5 with two RBI.

Round two between the Royals and the Rangers will be on Saturday, April 3 at 1:10 P.M.
