Mizzou sweeps Western Illinois ahead of weekend series with Auburn

COLUMBIA, Mo (KMIZ)

The Mizzou softball team dominated Western Illinois in a double-header on Wednesday, allowing no Western Illinois players to cross home plate.

In the first game of the day, the Tigers took down the Leathernecks, 10-0 in five innings. Lauren Krings notched 10 strikeouts over those five innings, giving up no runs.

Mizzou also found success at the plate, as Brooke Wilmes brought in a career-high six runs in the victory .

In addition, senior Hatti Moore's first inning home run tied her at 10th for career home runs in program history.

The second game of the day didn't look much different, as Larissa Anderson's group took down Western Illinois, again, 6-0.

Hatti Moore continued a standout day, with two more home runs in the second outing.

Up next - Mizzou will host the Auburn Tigers in a weekend series at the Mizzou Softball Complex, beginning on March 26.
