Tom Brady and Tampa Bay dethrone the defending champs

TAMPA BAY, Fla. (KMIZ)

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are Super Bowl champions for the first time in 19 years, with a 31-9 win over Kansas City.

The duo of Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski stole the show for Tampa Bay, going for two touchdowns over the course of the game. Those touchdowns broke the record for the most postseason quarterback-receiver passing touchdowns in NFL history.

The previous record was held by Joe Montana and Jerry Rice, with 12 postseason hook ups. However, Brady and Gronkowski topped it with 13 on Sunday.

Brady will also add another Super Bowl ring to his collection, as he took lucky number seven tonight, passing for 201 yards and three touchdowns.

Former Mizzou standout and current Buccaneers backup Blaine Gabbert will also receive his first Super Bowl ring.

Perhaps the biggest story of the night: Tampa Bay stifled the Kansas City offense, holding them to just nine points.

Patrick Mahomes finished the night with 270 passing yards, two interceptions, and no touchdowns.

Kansas City finished the season 16-3.
