Kansas City clinches first-round bye

KMIZ

KANSAS CITY, Mo (KMIZ)

The Kansas City Chiefs claimed the one-seed in the AFC for the second time in three seasons, with a 17-14 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

The Falcons kept it close throughout, however, the duo of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce took over to seal the deal for KC.

Mahomes finished the day with 278 yards and two touchdowns.

But all the attention went to Kelce, as he set a new single-season receiving record of 1,416 yards. San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle had previously held the record with 1,377 receiving yards.

Earlier in the matchup, Kelce also became the first tight end to have multiple 100-catch seasons.

The game ended thanks to a missed 54-yard field goal from Atlanta.
