Mizzou cruises past Southern Illinois; reunion at the arena

COLUMBIA, Mo (KMIZ)

The Mizzou women's basketball team got an easy 39-point victory over Southern Illinois on Sunday, in a special day at Mizzou Arena.

Former Mizzou head coach Cindy Stein returned to Columbia for the first time since she resigned in 2010.

Stein coached the Tigers from 1998 to 2010, with a Sweet 16 run in her third season with the Tigers. Following her resignation, Robin Pingeton took over the squad.

On Sunday, Pingeton's squad thoroughly out-shot and out-rebounded the Salukis in a 79-43 victory, shooting 61 percent from the field.

Multiple Tigers hit double-digit point totals, including Hayley Frank and Shug Dickson, but Aijha Blackwell raked in her 9th career double-double, with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Mizzou will move on to conference play, as the team will face Alabama on December 31.

We spoke with Shug Dickson and Lauren Hansen following the Tiger's win. You can watch their full interviews in the video players below.
