Week 12 preview: Georgia at Mizzou

COULUMBIA, Mo (KMIZ)
The Mizzou football team will host Georgia in a top-25 showdown at Faurot Field on Saturday at 11 A. M. The Tigers are looking for their first win over the Bulldogs since 2013.
The teams were supposed to play earlier in the season, however, at the time, Mizzou did not have enough available players due to COVID-19.
Eli Drinkwitz's offense has erupted the past few outings, courtesy of the running back tandem of Larry Rountree III and Tyler Badie. However, the team has not faced a defense like Georgia's yet.
The Bulldogs have not allowed more than 24 points in any of their games this season, except for one against Alabama. But, through the last two games, Mizzou has raked in 91 points total.

Georgia: 45 | Mizzou: 38
"I’m predicting Georgia will win this game, but I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if Mizzou proved me wrong. The Tigers have won five of their last six games, and they’re one of the hottest teams in the country. Historically, the Bulldogs have owned this matchup - going 8-1 against the Tigers all-time. Mizzou has never beaten Georgia in Columbia. But… that was before Eli Drinkwitz. The biggest problem for Mizzou on Saturday will be stopping Georgia’s offense. I fully expect a better effort from the defense than last week, but the Bulldogs will be tough to stop. Georgia rushed for 332 yards in their last game against South Carolina. The game before that - Georgia threw for more than 400 yards. Pretty much - if you take one away, they’ll beat you with the other. In my opinion - Mizzou’s only chance of pulling off the upset will be repeating its shootout success from last week. The Tigers will need a heavy dose of Larry Rountree, a few TFL’s from Nick Bolton and more heroics from Harrison Mevis. With all of that said - I think Georgia wins by a touchdown. Just too much firepower."
Nathalie's pick:
Georgia: 42 | Mizzou: 24
"My score prediction may not reflect it, but Mizzou does have the offensive firepower to compete in this ball game, however, my prediction doesn't really reflect upon them...it reflects on Georgia. The Bulldog defense has performed against the run all year long, although there have been some opt-outs through the week in the secondary, I don't see that being much of an issue for Kirby Smart's team. Plus, Georgia's offense is ramping up just at the right time. They are a whatever you need, whenever you need it kind of offense. Obviously, you can't look past Mizzou's defense, as Nick Bolton will be taking the field once again, however, he is only one guy.
They've said it all week long, Connor Bazelak is a field commander. He just gets the job done. I can see him tossing up a few dimes, but they are going to need a lot more from the redshirt freshman quarterback. Don't get me wrong...it would not actually surprise me if Mizzou made this a closer ball game or even upset Georgia, but sometimes you've got to run with the odds."
