Mizzou’s defense develops their own identity; Barry Odom returns to Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo (KMIZ)

The Mizzou and Arkansas rivalry has a little bit more spice in the 2020 season, as former head coach Barry Odom will return to Columbia for the first time.

Eli Drinkwitz retained a small portion of Odom's staff when he came on, including defensive coordinator Ryan Walters.

Walters and Odom worked together at both Memphis and Mizzou, before parting ways.

In the week leading up the matchup, both Drinkwitz and Walters talked about diversifying signs, due to Odom's inside knowledge of the program.

However, Walters added that the 2020 Mizzou defense is it's own entity. It has it's own identity.

We spoke with both defensive coordinator Ryan Walters and special teams coordinator Erik Link. You can watch the full interviews in the video player below.
