Mizzou beats out Vanderbilt; historic day at Faurot Field

COLUMBIA, Mo (KMIZ)

The Mizzou football team shut down the Vanderbilt Commodores in just about every way they could, except for one, historic, way.

Although the Tigers claimed their fourth win of the season, the real story came in the first woman to play in a regular-season Power-5 football game.

Vanderbilt soccer standout Sarah Fuller squib kicked it to the 35-yard line at the start of the second half. The team said that is how they practiced it all week long.

Fuller did not get to attempt a field goal, as Mizzou closed any opportunity the Commodores would have at points.

Eli Drinkwitz and Fuller shared a moment at mid-field before the game. He said he gave her his best wishes.

"I have four daughters of my own and that made me very proud to be on the football field with her," he said.

Eli Drinkwitz spoke in a postgame press conference following the win. You can watch the full interview in the video player below.

The Tiger defense held Vanderbilt to just 196 total yards on the day.

Linebacker Nick Bolton had yet another standout performance. He finished the game with nine tackles and one sack.

Offensively, Drinkwitz called a much different game than he did one week before, at South Carolina.

Mizzou totaled 580 yards of offense.

Freshman quarterback Connor Bazelak aired it out a lot on Saturday. He passed for 318 yards.

However, the running back duo of Larry Rountree III and Tyler Badie also had quite the performance.

Rountree ran for 160 yards and three touchdowns, while Badie added on 18 yards and one touchdown.

The Tigers took down Vanderbilt 41-0.

Next up: Mizzou will host the Arkansas Razorbacks, in the rescheduled Battle Line Rivalry game.

We spoke with multiple players, including Connor Bazelak and Larry Rountree III after the game. You watch those interviews in the video players below.
