Braggin’ Rights returns despite COVID-19

COLUMBIA, Mo (KMIZ)

The annual Braggin' Rights game will return to campus on Saturday, December 12.

Mizzou athletics said the game will either be hosted at Mizzou Arena or the State Farm Center in Champaign, Illinois.

In order to decide where the game will be hosted, the schools are hosting a "coin flip special," on Thursday night.

To maintain some neutrality, the teams said there will be no fans in attendance at either site.

"Both Mizzou and Illinois have worked step-by-step in coordination to ensure the historic rivalry matchup continues in 2020 in light of challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic preventing the game from occurring in St. Louis," Mizzou said in a press release.

The 2020 edition of the Braggin' Rights game will be the first time the annual rivalry will not be held in St. Louis since 1979. Illinois and Mizzou have met 50 times in program history.
