Mizzou football player dismissed following arrest over the weekend

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Maurice Massey is no longer a member of the Mizzou football team following his arrest over the weekend, according to a team spokesman.

“Maurice Massey has been dismissed from the Mizzou Football program for a violation of team rules," Mizzou spokesman Shawn Davis said. "Since electing to opt out of the 2020 football season due to COVID-19 last month, he has not been involved in any of our practices or team activities.”

The Columbia Police Department arrested Maurice Massey on Sunday on suspicion of fourth degree assault, third degree domestic assault and first degree property damage. That's according to the Boone County Sheriff's Department website.

CPD said it responded to a reported disturbance at 8 a.m. Sunday. That's when Massey was arrested.

Massey elected to opt out of the 2020 season back in September. The MU wide out is from Kirkwood High School in St. Louis.
