Mexico’s Tyronn Lue lands a new gig

LOS ANGELES, Ca (KMIZ)

Tyronn Lue reportedly agreed to a five-year head coaching contract with the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday.

The Mexico, Missouri native will replace Doc Rivers, after working as an assistant under him last season.

Los Angeles began its search for a new coach after blowing a 3-1 Western Conference Finals lead to Michael Porter Jr. and the Denver Nuggets.

Lue is no stranger to the position. In fact, he won a championship in 2016 as the Cleveland Cavaliers coach, the same time span in which the Cavs reached the finals three-straight seasons.

As a player, he also won two championships with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Despite being from Mid-Missouri, Lue did not play for Mizzou. He went to the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.
